The Asylum (33rd S. West Temple, Salt Lake City) is no tame “spook alley”… every scare, every dead thing that jumps out may be more than it seems… Like a living video game, you must win or lose by what you find. Discover the mysteries before it's too late and pick up some clues along your way. You may just emerge with a prize … as well as your life.

The X-Scream Terror will mess you up for life. Playing upon the most natural and innate fears in all people, the X-Scream area may just be too much for you to handle. While this area is normally an extra $3, this year we're offering it for free. You will experience tight spaces and crawl spaces, small drops, and you may even get a little wet. This area is meant to terrorize you and leave you screaming for more.

Combining secrets and screams, plotting and panic, Castle of Chaos continues as the most original and interactive Halloween event in Utah. Castle opened in 2001 and gained an immediate following, and now in 2006 Castle of Chaos is one of the biggest and best haunted events in Utah.
The Story of Chaos Asylum

Medicine requires a lot of time and dedication. No one knows this better than our resident doctor. He dedicated his entire life to healing the ailments of the mind, focusing on the minds of the most brutal convicts of the local prisons. You are invited into his world, to witness first hand the great strides in medicine he has made… his therapies, from electrocution to drowning have surely brought medical science into the new millenium.
X-Scream Terror

What awaits you in the darkness… when you’re all alone? Terror. You have not known fear until you’ve experience this all out fear fest! Can you handle being buried alive? Do you like blood? Rats? Chainsaws? Warning- this is intense, and is not recommended for anyone with physical ailments or bladder problems.
How to Win Prizes

As with every year, there are various item cards hidden within the Castle. For 2006, find the necessary evidence to have the Asylum exposed. Get clues by interacting with the nursing staff, looking around, and trying to stay alive to tell the tale!

Castle of Chaos rewards those who find the right combination of item cards with prizes from our sponsors including candy, coupons, or one of the coveted Castle of Chaos T-shirts (with a new design for 2006). By filling out a short survey, you can also be entered in a drawing to win a large prize; there’s no reason not to!
The Haunt

Castle of Chaos is proud to announce our 5th season beginning September 22nd and remaining open through October 31. Castle is open Tuesday - Thursday: 7:00pm – 10:00pm, and Friday - Saturday: 7:00pm – midnight . We will be open every day starting Tuesday before Halloween week, from Tuesday October 24 to Tuesday October 31st! Our X-Scream area is stepping it up a notch on Friday, October 13th. We do not recommend anyone under 16 attend on this night. No refunds will be permitted.
A Note from the Owner

I can’t say how excited I am for our 6th year of operations. Our new location has allowed us to really expand our scares and bring more unique and fun ways to give you a night you’ll never forget! I also want to thank our actors, managers and the tens of thousands of customers who have given us the opportunity to raise money for the University of Utah’s Burn Camp for Kids. I have been a burn therapist for 11 years at the University Hospital and have seen first hand what these donations have allowed. Thank you all! I hope to see you soon (I’ll be the one in the mask…)!
